On Friday September 22nd, the SkillsUSA officers from Frank H Peterson had went to East Side High school in Gainesville, Fl to vote on who would be the regional officers for Region 2 in Florida.
Out of the seven officers from Peterson, four had tried out to get voted in for being a regional officer. While the other three could have run for the position, they decided against it due to them competing at regional competitions in February. The officers that did not run were Jerro Madriaga, Amanda Reyna, and Allison Viola. The officers that ran and got the position are Carsyn Howes, Clara Dimunah, Alex Trudeau and Axeleslie Guzman. All the officers that ran for office were voted in and are now regional officers of region 2 in Florida.
At the regional meeting, the officers met other district students, and some became friends. T hey played games to get to know each other better and did teamwork activities.
Regional officers are student members elected by their peers and represent the organization. They are elected, trained, and sent to represent SkillsUSA as ambassadors for Career and Technical Education. Regional officers are expected to set an example for other members in professionalism, responsibility, teamwork and to represent SkillsUSA Florida and Region 2 at local, state, and national levels.
Regional officers are expected to attend all these events: Regional Officer Training (Virtual), Fall Leadership Conference, Regional Leadership and Skills Conference, and the State Leadership and Skills Conference (by invitation only).
